AU REVOIR, ELSA

by Tori on August 16, 2011

Well, we’re a little sad to see yet another beautiful vintage piece go—our Elsa Schiaparelli leaf necklace from the 1940s.

This is a treasured item because Schiaparelli was such an incredible designer. She was notorious for being Coco Chanel’s rival, and her creations were groundbreaking and look like something Lady Gaga would have worn if she had been around in the 1930s-40s. See below for her 1927 bow sweater (arguably the very first graphic design put onto clothing), Insect Necklace, her famous Skeleton Dress, her pieces designed with author Jean Cocteau, Shoe Hat, Tears Dress, and Lobster Dress:

Seriously, we are very happy that our leaf necklace has found a new home. Enjoy wearing this lovely piece of art, new owner!
