HAAAAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEE

by Amber on August 16, 2012

What a fantastic week! Not only did the “Tori & Amber” edition of TRV turn 1 on Monday, I myself turned 27 on Friday. Oh, aging. It’s a funny thing. Some people are bothered by it, but not me. I always feels like I’m still “growing up”, and that feels great. As far as I can tell, life gets better, love grows deeper, I learn more, and opportunities for the future are one step closer with each passing day. Maybe I’ll change my tune when 30 hits…

My birthday was awesome this year because I got to do EXACTLY what I wanted to do. And what exactly does an Amber Joy want for her birthday?

Nothing fancy, just:

Take a road trip to Santa Barbara….

Find a beautiful garden…

Do a little vintage shopping…

Eat delicious sushi…

Go bowling with friends…

Do a little more vintage shopping…

Be surprised somewhere along the way…

And lucky me, it all happened! Here’s a very incomplete, but fun, photo recap:

The lovely rocks on the way to Santa Barbara, via Hwy 118. Complete with finger over lens. Nice touch.

Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens. Redwoods, succulents, marsh plants, and lovely desert scrubs all live together happily between the mountains and the sea.

Lovely little redwood trees. This is an amazing 1970s maxi dress that will be coming soon to our shop. I had to take it for a little test drive to make sure it’s awesome. It is now officially awesome, verified by me.

Yellowstone Vintage Clothing. What a great shop! It’s on State Street in Santa Barbara. Super fun, a must-see if you’re ever in the area.

The Gay Blade?

Many dresses were tried on, only two came home.

Winner #1.

Winner #2. This one left the store on my body.

Love at first site. A hat from Antique Alley, also on State Street.

Beautiful Santa Barbara palm trees on the way to SUSHI eatin’. We at at Sakana Sushi, which was superb. I was too distracted with eating sushi to take an pictures in there…

My awesome cousin Rachel came along for the trip and kept me grinning.

Bowling buddies.

Round 2 of vintage shopping. Brought these home.

Finally, I had hoped for a little surprise, and got one! My mom sent me a card with some old photos that I had NEVER seen before. These made me sooooooo happy.

Check me out this onesie with reaaaallly pointy feet. Hah!

Check me out with my awesome grampa on our old farm in the San Bernardino mountains. Plants!!

Check out my grampa scything hay on our old farm. Wow.

Check out my mom’s amazing long blonde hair. Braid!

Finally, check me out with my grampa a few years later, on one of my Mom’s old horses. Yippee ki-yay, I was quite the little cowgirl.

Thanks to everyone who was around to make my birthday wonderful!
