Happy 42nd birthday to Beck, one of my first loves and a whimsical, tragical beauty. (That’s a lyric from one of his songs. That’s not me trying to be deep.)
I worshiped Beck in high school, and I still follow him and buy his albums. We share the same city, so maybe one day we will run into each other…and I’ll be way too nervous to speak to him, but I’ll stare at him from a distance while he—I don’t know—buys a vinyl of “The Streak” by Ray Stevens, or walks around wearing a bull mask or something.

And here is an amazing, crazy sexy live version of “Loser”. It’s incredible…it’s all fingers and bluesy, slidey guitar and mouth and low voice and microphone banging keyboard keys. Guuuuuhhh.
