Raphael Saadiq is an old favorite who just came out with this crazy incredible new song, “Stone Rollin’ ”. It’s safe to say that I am 100% obsessed with this song and video. I can’t get enough of it.
Last night I told my husband I might have to marry this guy. He thought I was joking.
A few years ago, during a visit to my hometown in North Carolina, I heard Raphael’s song “Love That Girl” on the radio in my dad’s car. Because my father’s car radio is always turned on to the oldies station—and because that particular song sounds straight up 1960s—I figured it was old, but I was confused because I’d never heard it before.
That’s when I realized it was new. And that’s why I love Raphael Saadiq. He freakin tricked me. He tricked my very knowledgeable oldies ear! So of course, I began to eat up his music. He’s not only a throwback who’s doing it right; he also has flawless music videos, he produces, he can dance like a beast, and he’s so cute, don’t you think?
And now gives me “Stone Rollin’ ”, a smoky, sexy, wildly 70s ode to the girls with a little extra bootie going on. I love it.
