tiny crochet monkey from SuAmi
Since I was a little girl, I have been enamored with miniatures. Something about a little bitty replica of an ordinary object makes me want to squeal. The more detail, the more I want to crush the cuteness out of it.
Recently I stumbled across this little crochet sock monkey on Etsy, and was reminded of my love for itty-bitty-ness. I mean, look at this thing! Gah! So cute!
It inspired a treasury of Small and Cute things, and set me searching for more mini wonders than I could possibly stand. If I don’t share them, I’m going to pop, so here are some of my favorites. Enjoy!

My absolute favorite type of miniature is a miniature landscape or garden. Bonsai, moss, little ponds, waterfalls, hills, bridges, and stone paths—oh joy! I once had “make the world’s largest living miniature landscape” on my childhood bucket list. It’s likely that I will still make it someday when I’m old and crazy. Or someday when I’m still young and sane. Don’t be alarmed. It will be great.
