Why do I love this music video from First Aid Kit so much?
Is it because sister Klara Söderberg looks exactly like my hero Melanie Safka? Is it because their sweet harmonies remind me of my Southern home? Is it because they obviously love vintage as much as I do? Is it because they lyrics are rare and poetic? Is it because they’re Swedish? Or is it simply because they bring a dead bird back to life?
It’s probably all of these, but it’s also because the song is just so good. Those vocals are strong and determined, and the girls radiate a mysterious atmosphere that I don’t see around too often. So beautiful.
Besides “The Lion’s Roar”, the girls also sing a cover of one of my favorite songs, “Universal Soldier”. As of now, they have two albums, and I sure hope they continue on and have a lot more.
